Graphic Links (GL) provides a computer software system, operating on the web, to Causes. GL provides this and much more at no charge to the Cause.
The system usually acts as a new page within the web site of the Cause - so it can more easily inherit and benefit from all the current users of the Cause's own web site. The Cause has to provide menu links to this new page.
The web page uses an image supplied by the Cause - which GL convert into a monochrome image and a matching coloured version. GL covers the monochromee image with a visible grid - that divides that image into thousands of squares. Each square is sold by the Cause for a fixed sum (decided by the Cause) to its donors. Once sold that part of the monochrome mage is activated and changed into the coloured version to make the sale more obvious to other viewers where they can see the reward of the donor.
The purpose of the system is to entice and reward donors to a Cause and GL also provide (free of charge) sub-systems to the donor to allow the self-creation of their rewards. The visible reward consists of a coloured square, which reacts to any viewers’ mouse passing over it and acts as the acknowledgement of the Cause to the donor.
The donor's name and their message of support plus the optional photo or logo of the donor are published, as a small pop-up, for all viewers of the Cause's web site to see. Clicking on the coloured square will display a special, unique web page - created and maintained by the donor.
In their own web page the donor can say at length more of their thoughts, wishes, prayers, poems, messages plus any information they want to give about their family (including photos) and business. They can also provide links to other web sites and email addresses. The donor's contribution is automatically made active and visible once paid for and can be altered and maintained forever, while the system remains active, by the donor.
GL will provide systems producing small or large numbers of grid squares in expectation of a small or large number of potential donors and will collect its fee from the Cause before paying over the rest to the Cause. Most systems will have from 400 to 12,000 grid squares (of 10x10 pixels). The average size is 9,600 (10x10) grid-squares or 2,400 (20x20) fitting an image size of 960x1000 pixels.
With a normal fee of £250 per grid-square sold to the donors - or the equivalent in othr currencies - the Cause can raise (before paying GL) as much as £2.4 million (using 9,600 10x10 grid squares) or £600,000 (using 2,400 20x20 grid squares) from every instance of the system they make use of.
Normally GL will collect the money using Paypal. The bank's fee for handling the money and the fees (inclusive of VAT) that GL charge will all come out of the money collected as part of its fee.
The Cause will be paid regularly (weekly or monthly) with a detailed list of each donor and an accounting of the charge deducted by GL.
GL handle all the technical details and aspects of the system - so the customer need no technical knowledge other than appreciation of what is offered. GL will pay for all hosting, bandwidth, hardware, software and communication fees. GL will also maintain and constantly upgrade the facilities offered to the donors, at no further expense to the Cause.
